Author Biography

Al-Mawardi (927 – 1058) was an Iraqi polymath and jurist, legal theoretician, muhaddith, theologian, sociologist and an expert in political science. He is considered to be an eminent scholar of his time who wrote on numerous subjects, including Qur’anic interpretations, religion, government, public and constitutional law, language, ethics and belles-lettres. His analytical abilities in debates were unrivalled.
Translator Biography

Dr Asadullah Yate has a PhD from Cambridge University and has translated works from Arabic, Persian, German and French, and, in collaboration with others, from Turkish. He teaches Arabic and Fiqh at the Weimar Institute, and is Imam al-Khateeb at the mosque of Stralsund, Germany.
