As the years passed, their daughter Dr Abia Afsar-Siddiqui became increasingly involved in Ta-Ha Publisher’s activities, often making constructive and imaginative suggestions about cover design, layout and content – until today she is now in charge of leading, organising and co-ordinating the dynamic Ta-Ha Publishers team.

While continuing the easy to access and genuinely concerned ethos established by her parents, Abia has met the challenges of the internet age with courage and attention to detail, utilising all the good that this brave new virtual world has to offer, while remaining committed to facilitating that ancient and yet still highly relevant art of reading and enjoying a good book – and in so doing helping people to give life to the Prophet Muhammad’s advice, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to “Seek knowledge, even as far as China”.

According to Qadi Iyad, may Allah be pleased with him, the letters in the name of Surah Ta Ha in the Qur’an signify the following: Ta, Tahir, Purity and Ha, Hidaya, Guidance.

I am happy to confirm that, possessing these qualities as its foundation and meaning, Ta-Ha Publishers remains committed to sharing priceless knowledge – in reassuring contrast to those gigantic publishing entities which appear to be more concerned with continuing to fuel the producer/consumer process ‘in the public interest’ as they ceaselessly seek the next best seller and the illusory financial returns they hope it will bring – wa’l-akhiratu khairun wa abqa – when the next world is better and longer lasting (Qur’an: 87.17)
